Aiden's surgery day

His tied tongue BEFORE being cut. (pics of AFTER coming soon)

In the waiting room building a tower

Waiting for the Anethesiologist to come talk to us before surgery. They gave him that ducky to cuddle.

3 hours after surgery trying to eat a Popsicle. He loved it. He is shirtless because of all the blood he thew up.
After surgery in the step down recovery. Still really sleepy

Today Aiden has his tonsils, and adenoids removed, and his tied tongue clipped. The surgery went well. His tonsils were huge and both his adenoids and tonsils were covered in scar tissue from being chronically infected. However, we had no idea that they were always infected because he never complained.
The recovery nurse said he didn't even act like a normal child his age. He did not cry when he woke up from the anesthesia, he just said hi to the nurse. The anesthesiologist said he was the best patient that day even better than the adults.
However, in the step down recovery (the recovery before you go home), his heart rate and oxygen levels kept dropping pretty low. They stuck him on monitors and oxygen and gave him a breathing treatment. That seemed to help some but we had to stay longer till he was completely stable (thank goodness). It caused a lot of anxiety for us. He also threw up a bunch of blood (totally gross) from the effects of the lortab and anesthesia. He did not complain of any pain the whole time. They gave him his tonsils to keep (yummy).
Now, he is home and acting like his normal self. He looks pretty wiped out and really swollen, but still has not complained of any pain. The poor kid is probably so used to it from all the infections. We are hoping all of this finally helps him breath better and be healthier.

I had another friend who's little boy got that same surgery on the same day. She lives in Ogden, so it might have been the same hospital. I'm glad to hear it went so well. It's nice to have children that don't complain, but makes it that much more pathetic when you see how much they could have. Glad to hear everythings better. Let's hope for a more healthy start for cute little Aidan!

Glad he's recovering now. Very scary about the oxygen and heart rate. You guys have been through so much, Star. And I can't believe that Brynnlee is already a year! How did that happen?!
