What are we to do??

So for the last three days, we have spent in the hospital with Brynlee. She has been very sick with RSV. This is one of her good moments without a fever of 103. For the last week or more she has had a little cough that I thought was allergies. It was a tight cough that sounded painful, but she would only cough at night and in the morning. Then on Sunday the cough completely changed to a wet crappy sounding cough. Monday she was running a low grade fever (99) and so I took her in to kids care in Layton to make sure it wasn't her ears. She had only had 2 wet diapers in the 24 hour period. I told the doctor that and he said had a virus and to bring her in again if her lips were bleeding and dry. (WHatever) so she didn't eat or drink anything that night. I changed her diaper again at 7:00 that evening and it was dry. I changed her the next morning and she was dry. I was quite concerned at this point, but went on with my day. As the morning went on, she became extremely hot and lifeless. I took her to instanta care and waited a stupid 3 hours to be seen. She had lost 4 ounces since the night before (13 pounds even with everything on). The doctor took one look at her and said she needs to be in the hospital now. He told me to take her right then or they would call an ambulance. I was soooo ticked at the doctor from the night before. We could have prevented this whole scene if he would have done something. In my opinion, you don't wait till a baby's lips are dry and bleeding to do something about dehydration. (dumb residents). They didn't initally think she had RSV so they were going to run a viral panel to determin what virus was kicking her butt. We got to the hospital and her temperature was 102.7 and she weighed 12 pounds 8 ounces, Ever since they admitted her on Tuesday evening she has not eaten or drank anything. She even refuses to nurse most of the time unless it's for comfort. I have had to pump (yuck). She has run a temperture between 101-103 ever since we got here. Thank goodness for motrin. The RSV test came out positive. As of today she has gotten a little worse and has developed broncholitis in her lungs and still not food or liquid intake. What are we going to do with the poor baby. It is so frustrating.

Oh Goodness. I hope she gets feeling better soon. When is she coming home? I feel so sad for the little sweetie. And you of course. How are you holding up?

Star, I'm so sorry to hear that. RSV is no fun! David's had it twice now. I hope she gets better soon. We will be praying.

Oh my gosh! That would be so draining for all of you! I am so sorry. I hope Brynlee starts feeling better soon and starts to eat. Charlie once lost a lot of weight when having RSV and then ate literally every 15 minutes for the next 3 days. Recovery is great, I hope it starts soon!
