Kynzee 9 Months Old

Kynzee turned 9 months last week. She is growing so fast. She climbs up the stairs and stands on her own. Those are just a few of the milestones she has reached. She still weighs 13 pounds actually down about 5 ounces from her checkup in December. She is in the 10th percentile for her height and in the 10th percentile for her head growth.

She still wakes up many times a night. Some nights every hour. Her Dr doesn't want me to let her cry it out. It doesn't work anyway. She will cry for over an hour straight when we try. As much as I love my sweet baby, she has been my hardest. She has had chronic nonstop respiratory issues since November on top of not gaining weight or sleeping.

On a happier note, she is my only baby that has stood on her own this young. She will just look at me and burst into laughter. This has been the newest thing this week. She still doesn't have any teeth. Every baby younger then her has passed her up on this one. She loves electronics like my other kids...phones, ipods, ipads, kindles. Her favorite show is still Baby Einstein. Her favorite food is yogurt mixed with bananas and strawberries. The other day I fed her a spinach smoothie mixed with whole wheat baby cereal. She downed it. I know you're probably thinking that is super gross, but it actually was super good. I just blended grapes, strawberries, bananas, Greek yogurt and spinach and little water. It was soooo good. I just put cereal in hers so she wasn't drinking meal. Despite being sleep deprived to the point of not functioning, I love her to pieces and I don't know what I would do without my little mama's girl.

It's Thursday

Today for "new recipe Thursday" I made Cream Cheese Chicken Chili in the crockpot with Chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes for dessert.

Oh my gosh, lets just say my tummy hurts because I am sooo full. The chili was awesome and the cupcakes were the best I had ever had. There was cookie dough (eggless) in the middle and cookie dough flavored frosting...NO JOKE!!! I had never added flour to a frosting before and this recipe called for 1 cup along with the powdered sugar, brown sugar and butter among other things. It was really rich. I will have to make these again. I do like my attempt at making the cupcake look like a rose which is practice for when I make Ben a yoda themed cupcake bouquet for the 14 days of Valentines that I am doing for him.

Thanks to Pinterest, I have broadened my horizons in the cooking area. I decided to try a new recipe for dinner as well as a new dessert every Thursday. I am not even going to take into consideration whether it is healthy or not. I want to expand my kids taste buds and have them experience new flavors. I know Aiden will at least try most things once. Brynlee, on the other hand, doesn't try anything. But I will keep trying. These are things that I have made so far. They were absolutely amazing.
Tonight we experianced the Lasagna soup and the chocolate chip brownie batter cookies. It was fun to try and make them at the same time. The soup was awesome and the cookies were even more heavenly. The soup however, was a low fat recipe, but the cookies definitely made up for it. I did get the recipe for the red velvet cake cheesecake off Pinterest as well that I posted a month ago.
I figured why post things in a board if I'm not going to apply them to my life. I can't just be a wishful person.
My kids have a favorite thing so far that I learned and that was putting a snack box both in the fridge and in the pantry full of healthy snacks that they can just grab themselves. Aiden is constantly telling me how much he loves it. I love that people have come up with websites that can better all of our lives.

Making Note

This wonderful little boy of mine told me this morning that he was writing down every time I said a bad word. I was a little shocked by the comment and asked what he meant. He said that he was making note every time I said a bad word and then he pulled out a blank piece of paper with one check mark on it. He told me that every time I said a bad word that he was going to put a check mark.
I admit that I swear sometimes and even around my kids. I am definitely not proud of it, but unfortunately it is a bad habit I have to break (just add it to the list) and one habit that has gotten a lot worse over the last year. You can judge if you want, but nobody is perfect. However, I have a little boy that likes to remind me not to swear or say "bad" words (which I'm not sure what he means by that). Sometimes he tells me that I owe him a dollar every time I swear. He makes it sound like I swear ALL the time, which I don't. However, it is making an impact on his life. I am posting this because I have a little boy that pays attention to stuff like that he is a very good reminder for me to shape up. I know what some of you are thinking "GOOD FOR HIM" It is very humbling to have my 6 year old tell me he is giving me a check mark every time I say a bad word. Well my goal is to have no check marks on his piece of paper. I think Heavenly Father uses our kids to remind us to do better sometimes. I am so grateful for my Aiden.

This is my 8 month old baby thinking she is big enough to stand all by herself. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! My other kids did not even think about doing that until they were at least 13 months and then walked at 14 months. And just because I want to savor Kynzee's baby hood, she is going to grow up too fast and do things earlier then the others. This makes me very sad.

Mom and Dad's House

This is my mom and dad's house. It has been a month today since they broke ground. We are so excited for them. It is located in west point just 3 miles from where we live. And with it being almost 5000 sq ft, it will finally be big enough to fit all of us (I hope). My parents have waited so long to build a house, although it is not my mom's dream house, it is pretty close. They are the most amazing people and they deserve this.

All in one day, Kynzee decided to crawl, pull herself up to things and furniture, and walk along it. She hasn't figured out how to get down from the standing position so she just starts crying. I think I am going to have my hands full with her. I have been so lucky with Aiden and Brynlee. They never got into anything but the DVD's. Kynz is already all over the place. I think we have entered 2012 with a BANG!!!
We have been waiting over three weeks to hear if Ben was getting a big promotion at work. We have kept it to ourselves (except close family).
Maverik has been redoing some of the departments in their corportate office, including the IT department, which Ben was their head guy. The decided to open up a manager and a supervisor position. In Maverik, the supervisor is over the managers, which is opposite from most companies. Ben's boss (the supervisor over IT) told Ben he had to apply because he could really use his expertise in this position better then anyone else.
Ben has done SOOOOO well in the IT department that the executive people have requested that he open the new stores in the other states (hence why he was out of town a TON last year). He can always find a way to solve any problem they are having even if it means rigging internet wires on the roof or leaving his personal lap top at a store in Washington until the new one arrives that isn't broken. He has just kicked butt this year and impressed EVERYONE.
When this position came open, Ben jumped at it. There was going to be a manger and a supervisor position open. The supervisor position being his preference. He has never held such a title but was determined to try. His IT supervisor wanted him to get the job so bad that he talked Ben up even more. The guy over these two positions was very nervous what others would think and feel because Ben would be skipping 2 ranks. (going from just a lead IT to a supervisor, that skips fuel and the manager position).
When Ben was interviewed the first time for the job, they gave him homework and wanted him to write essays. He was the only one that got a second interview with one of the owners of Maverik.
Three weeks later, he brought me a rose (2 days ago) and told me they finally told him he GOT THE JOB! There are so many perks in this position for all of us. This will help Ben grow so much. Both in his leadership abilities and his technical expertise. Ben finally gets his own office, they give him a car and the latest smart phone. He also gets a HUGE raise, bonuses and every year the supervisors and managers get a full trip paid for to some exotic adventurous place. This year will probably be Thailand. I guess we're getting passports YAHOO.
Hopefully now I can just look for a part time job and be a mom to my little kiddos. This is probably the best thing that has happened to our family as a whole in the almost 9 years we have been married. Life is starting to look up and I hope it will continue to be an amazing year.
2011 brought joy with the birth of our amazing baby, but without giving the details, the rest SUCKED. So I welcome a new and exciting change for us with open arms. Thank you to all of you for your countless prayers, love and support. We could never survive without you.

Primary

Today was Brynlee's first day in primary. I wish I could say it was a good experience for us but it was the complete opposite. She cried and screamed the whole time " This is NOT my class!" Ben stayed in primary with her the whole time hoping that she would get used to it and let him go, but she wouldn't. She either cried to go home or cried to him to take her to her class. Bryn loved nursery. She cried if she missed it, which was most of the time. I have a huge issue with our ward and the nursery. Most nursery's post signs on the door as to remind parents not to bring their kids if they have any signs of illness and then they name them, but ours does not. So to avoid illnesses as per her doctors recommendation, we avoid the nursery around this time of year especially. But for as often as she hasn't gone, she has learned tons of songs that she randomly sings often. What shocked me about her reaction today, was that they usually prepare the nursery kids that are about to enter primary by having them go in the last 30 min or so weeks before the big change. They did not do that this time when I asked. That probably would have saved us the tantrums today if they had prepared the kids better. She was not the only one freaking out. I really hope it gets better. Bryn has a very stubborn streak (much like her mom) and it takes her a while to want to do something sometimes. When I asked her if she liked her class today she replied with "absolutely NOT!" I was sad. But as with most preschoolers, they get over things pretty fast so hopefully that will happen in this case.

Red Velvet Adventure

I have been wanting to attempt to make a red velvet cheesecake cake for a very long time, especially after my dear sister-in-law brought me one from the Cheesecake Factory (which I totally cried over, I was so happy). I am totally in love with ALL cheesecakes and I am up for trying any new recipe. Thanks to google and pintrest, I found a recipe for the red velvet cheesecake. However, as I was reading on how to do it, I realized there was a warning that it would take 2 days to accomplish. Well I was determined to make it for a celebration cake for ME for making it 5 years in recovery. I seriously think I deserve it hehehe.
It tasted absolutely amazing. However, I will only make it probably once a year. It really did take two days and a lot of effort, but it was totally worth it. Everyone seemed to love it. 5 Years

This is the last year I am going to post the anniversary of my release from the treatment center that I spent 3 months of my life.
I have yet to buy one of these incredible necklaces. Every time Ben has money and looks they happen to be out of stock. However, when we are broke they are in stock. Isn't that how life works? CRAZY! He really wanted to buy me one this year because 5 years in recovery is huge to him. He is sure that I probably would have been dead if I didn't do this program.
As I look back on the last 5 years, this year has probably been the roughest as far as staying in recovery and using different coping skills to cope with life.
I was going to post a picture of me, but as of the moment I don't look a whole lot different from when I was admitted. However, I am happy to say that it is only because I am nursing a baby and not because I am starving. She happens to take everything I have, which I like being able to eat whatever I want. That won't last when I am done nursing and my healthy weight returns.
It is quite triggering to me to be where I am at though. I have to fight everyday not to like it too much and want to stay where I am. That is part of recovery though, you learn different ways of coping with life's stressors and triggers and you consciously have to practice them every day.
I have to live moment to moment sometimes to get through the day. I have such an amazing family. Both mine and Ben's family have been so supportive with everything this year as always.
Sometimes I don't know what I would do without my mom or Ben's mom helping me with my kids.
I have made it though another year with the help of Heavenly Father and Ben. Seriously, they are the reason I am still in FULL recovery. I am so glad I have them to lean on. I am so glad that Heavenly Father doesn't get tired of my endless prayers to just make it through the day without slipping. I don't want to ruin my long 5 year streak of being healthy so I have relied a lot on prayer. I am so grateful for the gospel. I am grateful for Ben and his constant encouragement, love, caring and support and for just listening to me. I am grateful for Ben's parents, for giving us a wonderful place to live, for helping me be able to say that I have been in recovered for 5 years by helping me get treatment. They are the most amazing in-laws a girl could ask for. They raised the most amazing son. I am grateful for my parents for their endless love, support, and encouragement.
I have not relied much on therapy this year. In fact, I only went twice when I was pregnant. So I'm pretty proud of myself for doing it on my own with my support system. Here is to another 5 years of being HEALTHY!!!

Mesmerized

We started letting Kynz watch Baby Einstein at about 3 months. From day 1, her eyes have been completely mesmerized by the show. She has such a fast mind like my other two kids that she just wasn't a happy baby. So my mother-in-law suggested that we put Baby Einstein on for her. Genius idea. It calmed her right down and her eyes were glued to it the entire show. She has loved it. We will put it on for her at night when we can't get her to give in and go to sleep and a lot of times she will stay awake until it is over. This is how I found her the other day while I was doing my hair. Aiden freaked when he saw her like that and made sure she was buckled in, which she was. He is such a good protector of his sisters. I hope it always stays that way. I am so grateful for the little things like Baby Einstein.

Kynzee

My grown up baby just turned 8 months on Dec 28th.
I am so sadened by this. It's sad that my last baby is growing so fast. It makes me wish she wasn't my last.
Kynz weighs 13 pounds and is full of curiosity. She is everywhere. She scoots on her belly like a little inch worm and sits up very well. She still isn't crawling nor does she have any teeth yet. However, she has already had her first ear infection and her first cold that has now turned to a bacterial infection as well as chronic thrush (since birth), but that still hasn't stopped her.
She is definitely a momma's girl, which I totally need right now. My other two kiddos have always been connected to daddy and I finally get a chance to experience that. I LOVE IT!
She loves to stay awake and NOT sleep. She wakes up every two hours some nights and has never slept through the night yet. My kids for some reason do not like to sleep. I can't wait for the teenage years when they want to sleep all the time (that is the ONLY thing I look forward to).
She hates binkies now and refuses to take a bottle, but will drink out of a sippy cup. So now I can find a job and maybe she will survive with my mom again. She doesn't have a favorite toy or blanket yet, but she does LOVE to snuggle, which I LOVE. We have enjoyed having her in our family and love watching her grow. I just wish time would slow down just so I can savor every moment.

Bryn's Surgery

I am so behind with my posts it is way pathetic.

I am so behind on my posts, it is really pathetic. Brynlee had her tonsils out on December 7th.

This is pictures of her sadness. Her tonsils have been touching for who knows how long. After her horrible bout with strep throat and RSV that landed her in the hospital last Februrary, I asked the doctor if her throat could be a reason why she doesn't eat at all some days as well as her poor weight gain. He agreed that it could be a reason and said if she had any more episodes then we would look into getting them out. Well because of insurance purposes we had to switch doctors (I literally cried and cried), so I took her to another amazing pediatirican after Kynz was born and asked his opinion. After hearing that she had lymphocytic colitis as well as HUGE tonsils that were touching. He took one look and said they had to come out. The ENT said that this was also the reason why she woke up almost every night. So after having to deal with scheduling issues, we finally got them out. She did soooo much better this round of surgery. We had warned the anesthesiologist of what happened last time. He had advised us not to leave her side for an entire week and that we would have to sleep by her and everything to keep an eye on her breathing. It did not help that she had a little cold, but the anesthesiologist said she did a lot better then he thought she would do with her vitals. He came and checked on her twice to make sure she was okay. I was sooo impressed and grateful. I am soooo grateful for amazing, caring doctors. We had no choice but to hurry and get this done before the end of the year. Our insurance covered it 100%, which will be the last time they ever do that. Starting 2012 they will only cover 70% with a 20,000 dollar out of pocket instead of 8,000 dollars which we met this year. BLAH Since her surgery, Bryn has finally slept through the night. It has been wonderful for her. Now I wish Kynz would do the same :)

First Snowfall of the Year

Brynlee and Aiden built this snowman ALL by themselves. The first snowfall of the winter brought such excitement for them. They did an amazing job on the snowman. When I asked Aiden why the snowman had red eyes, he informed me that it was a Vampire. When I asked him why he didn't have a hat on, he replied with "because it's grandpa" Ben's dad is bald and so he made a vampire snowman that was grandpa. SO FUNNY. Apparently the snowman tasted really good to them, they were eating him. YUCK!

Merry Christmas

Don't mind the mess in the background.
We had a lot of mess in a little space. This year for Christmas we did something a little different. We told the kids they were only getting 2 gifts because there was absolutely no room to put anything. They seemed completely fine with that.
This year I wanted to do a Christmas tree just for Christ, but I never got it done, but I will attempt again next year. I wanted my kids to focus on the Savior more this year and I thought that a tree just for him would help. Because I failed at that, we watched the Living Scriptures The Nativity many times. Brynlee loved watching it over and over.
I am never in the Christmas spirit especially the last couple years or more. It is next to Thanksgiving as one of my least favorite holidays. I am horrible and wish I could just skip Christmas. It is way too stressful and depressing for me...another reason why I wanted to do a tree for Christ. Don't get me wrong. I love giving gifts and finding that perfect gift for someone that is sentimental that they would never expect is my most favorite. I hope that I will eventually start liking it again. Maybe when my whole family can be together again. It just isn't the same without my two brothers and my amazing sister.

The other morning Ben's mom told Aiden that she would have to go to work at the office instead of down the hall. His response was "why?" She said "Because I have a training" He said "Are you training to be a Jedi?"

Wilbur

In Brynlee's hand is her "imaginary" pet Wilbur. Bryn has such an imagination. She doesn't have the imaginary human friends. All of hers are pets. This last week it happened to be a grasshopper named Wilbur. She would wonder around the house looking for him because he hopped away. She would then find him later in grandma's tub with his sister (no name). She even asked for a piece of cheese for Wilbur to eat for lunch. He ate it with no problem.
This week her pet friend is a puppy with brown spots and black ears. She wanted Aiden to pet her puppy and he just played along and pretended to pet what was in her hand. I love how supportive he is as a brother and doesn't make fun of her.
I love her imagination. I seriously don't know what we would do without her in our family. We are so blessed.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving time again.

I honestly can't believe it's already been a year since last Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my absolute least favorite Holiday ever. This year we spent it with my family. However, a lot of us were not there. Kev and Nate stayed in Oregon and Aimie stayed in Florida. Ashton went with his girlfriend to New Mexico and Sharae's husband Josh left for boot camp the previous week. Sharae left early so it was just my little family. None of us seemed in the spirit this year. However, there are always millions of things to be thankful for and it's nice to have a holiday to remind us of that especially during rough times.
Things I am thankful for:
1. My 3 kids. Aiden, Brynlee and Kynzee are the best things to ever happen to me.
2. My best friend and husband forever, Ben.
3. I'm thankful that we have a place to live
4. I am thankful for the new job opportunity Ben has (more later).
5. I am thankful that my brother, Weston has returned from his mission to Switzerland, Germany and Austria. What an amazing kid.
6. I'm thankful that my mom finally gets to build a house as big as she needs without a huge house payment.
7. I'm thankful for the weddings that we've been able to do and earn more money. Also for my small income with Melaleuca, Shelf Reliance and doTerra.
8. I'm thankful for my Yummy food storage that I was able to start (thanks steph) for my awesome doTerra essential oils that have helped my family's chronic medical conditions. LOVE THEM!!!! and for Melaleuca's products that have made it possible for my kids to clean without having asthma attacks.
9. I am very grateful for the Gospel and for my Heavenly Father who listens to my endless, countless prayers.
10. I am grateful that I made it through another Thanksgiving.

Kynzee turns 6 months

Kynzee turned 6 months on October 28th. I'm a little behind. She is 24.5 inches tall and in the 10 percentile for her height. She weighs 12 pounds and is the 2 percentile for her weight and her head in in the 10th percentile as well. She is kind of following Brynlee's growth pattern, but hopefully won't have the same medical condition. So far so good.
She is such a joy. She has learned to roll over and scoot backwards. We found her almost completely under Aimie's couch because she had scooted herself backwards instead of forwards. Sometimes she gets pretty frustrated. She is a very snuggley baby and definitely a momma's girl. These pictures were both taken in Florida. The bottom one at Firehouse Subs. She thinks she is as big as everyone else. She loves bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans, pears, and applesauce. One day when I was feeding her, she grabbed the spoon out of my hand and fed herself perfectly. We were all shocked.

First Snowman

Aiden and Brynlee built this snowman all by themselves. Ben helped them lift the middle snow ball but they did the rest. They were pretty excited they were eating him.
When we asked Aiden where the snowman's hat was he replied "it's grandpa" Ben's dad is bald and he built a snowman to "match" him. When I asked him why he had red eyes, he replied with "it's a vampire." So snowman grandpa hatch is a vampire. Seriously love that kid.

Snake Bird

Aiden took a ton of pictures of Wakulla Springs. These are just a few. Wakulla Springs is a state park full of wild animals. Some include: Manatees, Snake Birds, many other birds and of course the Famous Alligator. The picture on the bottom is of the kids holding a REAL alligator head. Ben has wanted to buy them one for a long time. They thought it was the coolest thing.

Ben's Mission

This is where Ben lived when he served in Bristol. WOW an actual house.

This Apartment on the end is where Ben lived in Defuniak Springs. He called it a hole in the ground. Aiden literally believed him.

The Apartment in the bottom is where Ben lived in Pensacola.

Ben served his mission in Tallahassee Florida. We had the chance to go to every city he served in. He never did serve in Tallahassee. We drove from Pensacola to Bristol, Quincy, Bluntstown, Crestview, Defuniak Springs and even Tallahassee.

We had the chance to take pictures of all the places he lived except the apartment in Quincy. There was a lady sitting on the porch smoking and was giving us evil glares because we were driving slow past "her" house. We didn't take a picture for fear she would shoot us or something.
I feel very blessed that we had the chance to go. I know Ben really loved it and I am happy that he got to return to his mission once again.

I used to love to spell this state when I was in 5th grade. I never thought I would ever go there. We landed in Biloxi, Mississippi and then we drove two hours through Alabama to Pensacola, FL It was a blast to ride in a car for two hours with 3 kids after being on a plane all day. They screamed when we arrived at my sister's house, "We're in FLORIDA, YAY!!!"

We decided to take a trip to Pensacola Florida to see my sister, Aimie before she moved to Arkansas and then to Reno, Nevada. Trips for us come on very rare occasion, especially going this far. Ben happened to serve his mission in Pensacola and around Tallahassee so it was even more of an excuse for him to return.
This is the first time the kids have been on an airplane. When we first took off in Salt Lake, they both yelled in unison "WE'RE FLYING IN THE AIR" Everybody around us laughed. These pictures are from our lay over in Menphis, TN.

My Adventure for the Day.

See that little dot in the middle of the arch. That is me. I hiked up to Wilson Arch near Arches National Park today. It took me a total of 6 minutes to climb to the top. I am not a hiker at all, in fact, I always preferred to stay behind when the rest of my family would go on hikes growing up. But I wanted to do this today. It was snowing and super cold, and Ben got a lot of bum shots because I had to climb on my hands and knees most of the way because the rock was super slippery. I am kind of afraid of heights and I thought I was going to blow over when I got to the top but it was an accomplishment for me that I am actually proud of.

We were doing a canopy and a wedding in Clearfield and Kynz pooed all up her back. I didn't have any choice but to strip her to a diaper. It happened to be a cold day and I had nothing to put on her. New Job

Today was my official day of my new job. I was informed this last Tuesday that the clinic I work for wanted to hire me full time. I was beyond excited. I have worked so hard (just shy of 300 hours) without getting paid. I absolutely love working for the Intermountain Medical Specialty Clinic. I will be the Nurse Practioner's Medical Assistant (or nurse that most people refer to me as). Ben is a patient of the Nurse Practioner. This is such a blessing for him to have me working for her. He can now get insulin for free, which will save us 400 dollars a month.

I have learned soooo much about diabetes and other endocrine disorders and I feel so blessed for this. It will help me help my family more. I really believe that things happen for a reason and this opportunity couldn't have happened at a better time. If I have to work, I am glad it is doing something that will benefit me and my family in more ways then just income. Knowledge is so important to me. I love learning new things.

Pump it up

Ben got his insulin pump yesterday. He calls it his plastic pancreas. He absolutely loves it...and yes it is green. This particular pump is awesome. He just tests his blood sugar on his meter and the pump automatically gives him the amount of insulin he needs based on that reading. There is millions of foods programed in the pump that make it easier. He just finds the foods he ate in a meal and it adds all the carbs up for that meal, then it pumps the insulin in based on the total carbs. He doesn't have to count as much as he had before. We found out in July that his pancreas is pretty much toast and he is full on Type 1 diabetic now. It is still surprising to his endocrinologist that he got it at the age of 27. The pump will help him control his sugars better. Up until now, they have been very difficult to control and he keeps having to up the amount of insulin he has a day. So the pump replaces his 6 plus shots a day of two different insulin's (a base and fast acting). Thank goodness for technology and insurance. We are blessed and our insurance covered it 100%. These are very very expensive and we feel very lucky and blessed.

My little boy is in 1st grade already. He is attending Clinton Elementary, which is not my first choice but we will try and make the best of it for now. Aiden likes it for the most part. The first day he hated it and I was worried, but it is getting better. He gets bored easy if he is not challenged and the review weeks of the beginning of school are rough for him.

Our weekend trip to the cabin was a blast. It wasn't long enough. I did not want to leave for once. Aiden learned to shoot a 22. He found a bunch of water snakes and was pretty bumed that he didn't find anymore frogs (must have gotten eaten). He danced by the fire, while making smores. It was also Kynzee's first time being in such a calming place. Love it :) It did take us 8 hours to get home instead of the normal 5. The joys of having young kids

Kynzee is 3 months old. HOLY COW!
She weighs, according to my scale 9 pounds 3 ounces and is 22 1/2 inches long.
She is finally allowing us to put her down without crying. She is all smiles most days, which is a big change from a couple months ago. She still has relfux really bad with apnea spells despite medicine. She starts having weight checks on Monday (aug 1). I don't really want to play the same weight game with Kynzee as I did with Brynlee. Maybe she will just be small and there won't be anything medically wrong. That is what we are hoping for :)

First Week of Work

This week I started my 300 hour unpaid externship at the Intermountain Medical- Speciality Clinic in Layton. I am working for Dr Al-Reeyes and Nurse Practitioner Laura Burton. They specialize in endocrinology, diabetes, and bone disease.
It has been a huge adjustment for me and my family. I honestly have never worked full time before except occasionally at a grocery store before I was married. This week I pulled 43 hours. My amazing mom has taken my kids while I work. I don't know what I would do without her. Hopefully it will only take me 7 weeks to complete and then I can get a job that is paid and then we will be able to get a house.
Ben has been a patient of NP Laura Burton for a couple months. She has been helping him get a pump for his diabetes. Because he is now full fledged type 1 diabetic now, he is eligible for a pump. We are hoping it will help him keep better control. He really likes the freedom that it will give him. It's a lot better then 6 shots or more a day.
I spend my days extremely busy with administrative back office work as well as patient care. On Wednesday and Thursday I probably gave 20 shots or more a day. At least some of my patients gave me an A+ grade on poking them. That made me feel good. I am honestly not a fan of the administrative part but I love the patient care. I am really hoping that they like me enough to hire me after I am done. It is a really good office to work for. Say your prayers that everything works out :)
I miss and hate being away from my kids. I wish life was perfect enough that we could survive if I stayed home to be a mom. But unfortunately we live far from that perfect life.

This eight eyed, eight legged freaky thing is from South America. It has the ability to hiss loudly by rubbing the bristles on it's legs together. They can also propell a cloud of hairs off their body at their attacker. This is the largest spider in the world and it is able to eat rodents, lizards, bats and small birds. GROSS!!-

Kynz is 2 Months

Our Kynzee is 2 months. This picture is of her sitting for exactly 1 second, long enough for me to snap a picture. She is growing good so far. She weighs 8 pounds. I am not sure the exact ounces because her well-checkup is on the 5th, but that is what my scale says. I wish I could say she was a good, happy baby, but she is not. I am hoping things will get better soon for my sanity. She LOVES to be held and cries whenever she is not. She can only tolerate the swing and bouncer for so long before she gets bored. She cries most nights for a couple hours sometimes. I have never had a colicy baby and I am getting my fair share of the challenges of that. Hopefully some zantac will help her feel better.

My pretty princess Bryn is growing up too fast. Today she turned 3. Here are some of her favorite things to do and say.
1. "I'm not a princess, I'm a girl."
2. "I'm Bryn not Brynlee"
3. When she sees something she loves she will say "That is so incredibly beautiful"
4. She saw a hispanic gentleman in the parking lot at 7-eleven the other day and said "That boy is so lovely."
5. She will change her clothes to a different DRESS at least 5 times a day.
6. She is very picky on what shoes and underwear she wears.
7. She picks her own clothes out in the morning, which only stay on for an hour at the most before she changes them.
8. She can quote ALL of Tangled, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, and most of the Dora episodes.
9. She loves to sing and dance until she knows you are watching her.
10. She has many of her bedtime story books memorized word for word.
11. She has known all of her shapes and colors since she was 18 months old.
12. When Kynzee is crying she will find her binkie and carefully put it in her mouth and come tell me "I fixed her for you mom."

Brynlee is such an amazing little girl. We are so blessed to have her in our family. Aiden would be very bored without her as would Brynlee be without him. They have an amazing bond and friendship that I hope lasts a lifetime. She has had so many medical challenges in her short little life, but that has not stopped her from progressing where she wants to be. We love her beyond words. Happy Birthday to my little girl.

This weekend we went to Ben's Snow Family Reunion up in Heber City. This was both my kids first time in a boat and they absolutely loved it. Aiden started out in a paddle boat and decided to join Brynlee, Ben and I in the canoe in the middle of the lake. They both LOVED paddling. Bryn wouldn't give up her paddle for anything and she refused to get out of the canoe when we were done. I'm guessing this won't be the last time we are out boating on the water. I am glad they loved it.

We had to go all the way to the other side of the city to get to this water pad. It was 106 degrees today and for us that came from 70 degree weather (when we left) to 106 is quite a culture shock. We all came with Ben on his business trip to St. George. He has been going out of town EVERY week this month and we all wanted to join him this time. I think it has been a good change for the kids, although it's not much different then being at home. Ben's grandma let us stay at her home while she is in Syracuse with family. Aiden has made more then one comment that he thought it was nice to feel like we had our own house. Ben and I totally agree and hope to able to give him that soon.

Oh my GOSH!!! The weirdest thing has been happening the last couple days. First of all, I have yet to find a diaper that is completely leak free. Every kid seems to be different and different diapers work for each of my kids. I thought that pampers were doing the best for Kynzee, boy was I WRONG. No other brand of diapers seem to be able to handle her "newborn explosions" I thought pampers were doing the best job. The last couple days they have NOT been leaking out the legs. They have NOT been leaking up her back (only a few times). They have been leaking right through the diaper. How is this flippin possible? It's not because I wait forever to change her. I have to change her immediately because she has such sensitive skin. I have never seen anything like this before. The funniest thing is that the most expensive diaper brands SUCK. I guess my search is still on, CRAP!

Today we blessed our baby girl, Kynzee. The day was interesting and didn't turn out the way we had planned, but overall it was an okay day. The dress Kynz is wearing was made by Ben's mom. It was absolutely beautiful and I am so grateful to her for making it for our baby girl. It was amazing. Thank you Teresa, we love you so much.

The pictures of my three kids are so precious to me. We can never seem to get them together and cooperate, but Brynlee was actually pretty cooperative. I think she is starting to like her picture taken now, which is so helpful. I love my three peanuts so incredibly much that it hurts sometimes. I am so grateful that I am blessed and privileged enough to be their mother. I just hope that I can one day live up to what they deserve.

This is Aiden giving Ben his actual insulin shot. We decided to teach (by the advice of our diabetic home teacher) Aiden how to give Ben his shots for three reasons: one, so that he could in case of an emergency and two, so he would not be afraid of shots anymore himself and three, he would not be afraid of seeing Ben giving himself shots. He did awesome. He had no problem poking Ben with the needle. The pens are a little difficult to push the insulin out of and keep the needle straight so Ben kept a hold of the end so Aid could push the button. We are really hoping he will get a better hold of his own fear of shots by doing this a few times. He loved it. He asked if he could do doctor stuff like shots more often. I told him next time I cut myself and was bleeding then he could put a band aid on me just like a doctor. He said he was cool with that.

My Mommy and Me

This Mother's Day has been nice for me. I loved spending time with my 3 kids (weird to say). They all bring such great joy to my life. I have such a wonderful husband that made this day very special for me. I honestly didn't know how I would be able to handle 3 kids. I was seriously freaked out when I thought about it. It has been really no different, not really any harder then just having 2 kids. Aiden, Brynlee and Kynzee have been such a blessing to me. Getting them here was a struggle because being pregnant is my least favorite thing in the whole world, but it was definitely worth it. They each have a special personality that I am so grateful for. As much as Kynzee was a huge surprise, I could not imagine my life without her. I am grateful to Heavenly Father for sending me such wonderful children whom I love more than anything.

My Mom has been the best example to me. I don't know where I would be in this world without her. She is amazing. She taught me how to be a mom, and how to love my kids the way they should be loved. She means so much to me. Thank you mom for loving me and teaching me so much.

She is eating good so I am hoping hoping hoping they will take her off the lipids and TPN (total parental nutrition) tomorrow. They stopped the antibiotics today, so that is really good. So I am just hoping for the best and keep saying my prayers.

Welcome Baby Kynzee Rae Hatch

EVERYBODY who guessed a GIRL was right obviously. Kynzee Rae Hatch was born on
April 28, 2011 at 12:29 pm. She weighed 5 pounds 4 ounces and was 19 inches long. She was born a month early (due on May 29). I am so grateful to have her in our family.
My labor was quite long this time because they couldn't "help" me because I was only 35 weeks. But, my body managed to do it on it's own. They had to slow me down so they could infuse antibiotics for group B strep and that just made things drag even more. I even got to experience having my water broke first before I had an epidural. I don't and won't experience that again.
After 20 minutes of pushing she was born with the cord wrapped around her neck (Scary) and a cone head even though they did not have to help her with forceps. I was soooo glad because I did not have to be cut nor did I tear. One less thing to recover from.
Kynzee was very alert after she was born. She just looked around with those bright big brown eyes for a whole hour. My mom and I did notice that her nose was flaring and she was grunting. Both are signs of respiratory distress. Ben went with her to transition and her glucose was checked. Of course it was low at 32. So they gave her some enfamil and she threw it back up. They did an x-ray of her lungs and saw streaking, which is common in premature infants as well as her lungs collapsing. They also ran some blood work and determined she had an infection of some kind. So with all that, she got admitted to the NICU for who knows how long. They have her on a high flow oxygen to help her breath and antibiotics. She is so sick that the nurses commented that she won't even cry or wake up when they prick her heals for blood. SOOOOO sad.
She is a fighter though I can tell. She is strong and will beat this. Ben and his brother gave her a blessing and it was very promising of course, that everything will be fine. She is meant to be here for some reason

We did an Easter EGG hunt this morning. Aiden hid some eggs just for Brynlee. He loves to hide them for some reason. Aiden found 29 eggs and Bryn found 17. They had a blast.

First Tooth

My little boy is growing up. Aiden lost his first tooth on Sunday. I actually pulled it out after pretending to just floss his teeth. He would have freaked if I told him what I was doing, but it was just hanging there. I am sooooo not a teeth person so I am surprised I could do it. He was surprised and said it didn't hurt one bit. He was so excited for the tooth fairy to come that he went right to sleep that night, which rarely happens. The tooth fairy brought him 2 dollars. He was so excited and put it in his piggy bank right away. I just wanted to cry because he is now to this stage. I am so sentimental sometimes.

I struggle with having church so early. My calling is relief society pianist, which I've had many times before, but for some reason my fingers don't want to work in the morning and I have to deal with them being cold...Thanks to winter. So this morning wasn't any different. We had an amazing lesson that drained me more then I was already drained. So I was kind of glad when Ben came in after and said he had to go and fix a 2 million dollar problem for a Maverik store. Bryn and I went with him. I keep her with me to avoid her catching germs.
When I left, I was upset about something and that didn't help my already irritable mood. I sat on my bed when we got home and I cried. I cried for about a million reasons. Ben was hugging me and Brynlee came in, climbed on my bed, and took my face in her hands and said "Mommy, I'm sorry you're sad you need some lunch." I was really surprised to hear her say that, but a lot of times I get emotional and irritable when I need to eat. I am sure she has heard Ben many times tell me that I should eat and it will make me feel better. I love my little girl. She is such a caring, compassionate little thing. What would I do without her.

Human Art Project

The kids wanted to color on my tummy. Aiden remembered that he did when I was pregnant with Brynlee and he wanted to make a "better picture."
The thing I didn't know until after is that it was NOT washable marker. So my tummy will now be red for a couple days and my clothes are probably toast, but they had fun and that's what was important. They had a blast.

I was quite surprised last night when Aiden brought me this book and told me he wanted to read it to me for his bedtime story. I wasn't sure if he would be able to. DAH he read the book perfectly and it was a pretty long book. He was even reading long words without any trouble. After he was done, he asked me if he could have his Tarantula spider now. I told him we would have to move to our own house first and he said "well, will you tell my teacher that read that whole book by myself." I said of course. He said "Are you proud of me." I of course was soooo proud of him, which I had told him throughout the whole book, but he had to have it validated for himself one more time.

As I look back on the last eight years of our life together, I wouldn't change anything we have been through together for anything. The trials have only made us stronger as a couple and as a team. Ben understands me more then anybody in the entire world. He puts up with a lot from me with my mood swings and irritable nature a lot of times. I am truly blessed to have a husband that will do that. Not many would.
Our life is not perfect, but our love is. I never thought I could love someone this much. So here is to 8 wonderful years and almost 3 kids later. We are looking forward to spending eternity together and enjoying our perfect love story.

Valentines Day Blahs

It seems that half the world seems to hate Valentines Day, especially the ones that are single and have no one share this overrated day with. However, there are some of us, that even though we have someone to share this day with, it still turns out blah.
Today started out with a much needed doctors apt with my OB/GYN. I had been contracting more and more over the last 4 weeks and I had reached my limit. Despite feeling like crap with a constant pain in my back from false labor that kept me up all night, I managed to make a fudge cream cheese cake for Ben, run to Walmart to grab him Star Wars Legos that he has wanted for a very long time and get him a V-day card all while dealing with the horrible shaky side effects of the antilabor medication that I hadn't had in 3 years.
Aiden came home this evening and cheered me up some with his HUGE valentine card he made at school for his mom and dad with BIG letters reading "I LOVE YOU MOM and DAD that he had written himself. He made me feel loved when out of the blue he says "I love you mom, happy valentines day, I just wanted to tell you." At least one person in our little family remembered to say it to me and I adore him more then anything. He is a very thoughtful, loving 5-year old. What would I do without him?!

Baby Germs

So the other morning I was helping Aiden get ready for school. I sneezed suddenly with my legs crossed and of course my mouth covered and Aiden asked me,
" Am I going to get baby germs and grow a baby in my tummy because you sneezed on me?"
I said:
" NO you silly boy."
he said:
"Well, I think your baby germs might be contagious"

I didn't know quite what to say to that one. I love that kid.

My 25th Week

I don't very often do this because I am so self conscious of my growing tummy, but here I am. I am in my 25th week. Almost to the 3rd trimester. Ben thinks it has gone super fast, but I don't. Not much longer and everybody with know what kind of bun is in the oven.

Bryn is the ER

Bryn has been hospital since Tuesday morning. On Monday night we took her to the doctor because her eye was goopy and really red. She had a fever of 103 but I thought it was because she caught Aiden's RSV. I was concerned because she hadn't urinated all day so I was worried she was getting dehydrated. We found out she also had strep and that's why she refused to drink anything. They told us she was mildly dehydrated and to watch her for the next 2 hours and if no improvement then we were to take her to ER. Well I don't like to mess with ER so I was hoping she would pull through the night without us having to take her. The next morning she looked horrible. Her lips were cracked, bleeding and swollen. I was asking my mom's opinion on what to do when the PA that saw her the night before called to check on her. I was so grateful he called because I didn't know what to do. He instructed me to take her to the ER immediately.
I honestly hate the ER and wished he would just admit her, but PA's can't admit so I had to deal. It didn't help that I was by myself. I thought the ER would just hydrate her and send her home but they decided they needed to admit her. They weren't too thrilled with her lab work. That night our doctor came to see her and he told us she also had RSV/bronchiolitis as well as the strep and possibly strep in her blood. The pictures above are of that night. Last night she took a turn for the worse and ended up with high fevers. Ben and my dad gave her a blessing. I didn't take any pictures of last night because she looked so bad. Today she has made a huge turn around and acts finally like her normal self. No fevers, she still has to have treatments every four hours, but no oxygen. Our goal is to get her to drink on her own. So far she has done well and we are hoping it is good enough to let her go home.
My kids have been sick the WHOLE month of January and I desperately think they need a break (and us). I am so grateful for blessings and the prestood. We are truly blessed to have that in our family.
